Here at Wild Nettle Gardens, we are all about growing healthy food. We have never used pesticides or herbicides and we are passionate about low food miles. Some of the berries that we will be growing this year include black, red & white currants, aronia berries, tay berries, gooseberries, raspberries and strawberries, silvan berries, honey berries and blue berries. We also have 7 cherry trees and some citrus, so we are just interested to see how that does in the north east.
For the vegetables, we will not be growing very many, because we feel that there are many other farmers in the area growing fabulous vegetables. We will be growing asparagus- 2021 before that is ready to harvest, walking tree collards, because they are delicious!, and artichokes because they have such incredibly beautiful leaves for the flower arranging – oh and they taste divine. We will of course be growing other veg, but the main focus will be on the flowers, fruit and potted plants.
